Very calm atmosphere until somebody dropped a spoon. I acknowledge it wasn't dropped on purpose but I have memorised their face.

I started my trip with Bangkok. Archie told me to start here - I wasn't given a choice. Mabel messaged to say 'enjoy Lieland'. I dismissed this, though it had a measurable impact on how I interacted with people.

The mango juice was delicious. I don't drink juice but I could smell it from across the room.

The music was relaxing but I was concerned when they asked if I wanted extra pressure. I said no. They respected that. This is all I ask of anyone. Half a point has been deducted to reflect the sleep.

The Siam Serenity Hotel

The bed was large. Much larger than necessary for one small dog. I appreciated the gesture but found it isolating.

The minibar had no biscuits. I raised this with reception, but they didn't fully understand the problem. I went for a walk and found a 9-Eleven. I returned for each meal of the day.

Guests in most establishments were quiet. I appreciated this. One had a rollalong suitcase with a squeaky wheel. He knows what he did. The minibar situation at the hotel remains unresolved. Would I return? Yes. Would I warn others about the minibar? Also yes.

Beautiful beach. No toilets. I returned to the hotel earlier than planned.

I walked to the waterline once. A wave arrived before I'd made a decision about how to react, so I returned to my towel. A vendor approached me several times. I was clear from the start I didn't want any sunglasses. He eventually accepted this and moved on. I found the whole episode quite draining.

Baan Talay Resort

Every sun lounger had a towel on it when I arrived at 9am. There was nobody on them. I waited for 3 hours - still nobody. The towels had a better holiday than I did.

Breakfast was included. I discovered this at 12:10pm. It had finished at 10:30am. I'd been outside since 9am. The woman at the desk confirmed this with what I felt was unnecessary eye contact. I'm going to start recording instances of this - the eye contact, not the missed breakfast.

The Elephant Cafe

I spent some time between drinks not knowing where to direct my face. One of the staff interpreted this as a request for service.

The café had chosen its furniture well. I ordered a second drink to give myself something to look at. This worked until it was finished.

Teddy's Phuket Verdict

Breakfast was included at the resort. Nobody mentioned this. The Elephant Café was the clear highlight — well-furnished, attentive without being intrusive. The towel situation at the resort remains one of the more troubling things I've witnessed.
